WHO ME?
Savannah McCauley . SHE/HER . Latina(x)
It’s very nice to meet you! My name is Savannah and I am an adventure photographer, filmmaker, writer and 35mm film hoarder.
I started making films at age 15 when I wrote an 18 page script on a sequel to James Cameron's Titanic. I’m sure you must think… Savannah its kind of a straight forward ending… and to that I say “you’re wrong!” there’s always more story to tell. In that case I filmed that (horrible but oddly creative) script with my best friend in our backyard on a shitty DV cam (RIP). But since then I’ve never not had a camera with me whether that be in the city, in the backcountry, in the water, or on a big wall.
My outdoor photography career began from a combo of good people and dumb luck back in 2018 when I signed on to solo the lead photography for Discover Outdoors. Over the course for 40 days I travelled to 7 different states along the Pacific Northwest and photographed the guide companies newest and largest launch digital and printed campaign to date. It was this both feet first experience that allowed me to become proficient in my style and values as an adventure photographer. It is out there where I learned to be me 100%. The portfolio of this work is currently curated under the campaign section of my site.
Over the course of 2 years I am proud to have built a strong portfolio of work for brands like The North Face, Arctery’x, Backcountry, and Outdoor Research. I have also been very lucky to have presented for the REI Speaker Series and had my work displayed at the Patagonia Bowery in New York City. I was fortunate enough to shoot for the 2019 Fall Flash Foxy Climbing Festival before heading out West for my work with Outdoor Research.
Even in a COVID world I remain committed to the values I stand with as not only an outdoor photographer, but a women, an advocate for Black Lives Matter, the LGBTQ community, and diversity and inclusivity in the outdoor space. I hope to not only use my love of storytelling and art to help tell others stories but to explore my own as the child of a Bolivian immigrant father and raised by a single White mother. It has always been my wish to create a welcoming and inviting place in the outdoor realm through my images and work with brands that represent the possibilities in nature.

MY VALUES IN WORKING
Vulnerability is key in myself and others; it’s the real subject of all photos I chase.
Awareness of my own boundaries and that of my subjects is my #1 priority.
It is all about connection. Connection to one another, to the land, and to the camera.
The creators behind many outdoor companies marketing content does NOT reflect the current diverse market of consumers. Lift other women and minorities up alongside to create content - about the people for the people.
———————————————————————————————
I hope to continue to photograph and film the many waves, surfers, climbers, and adventures to come into my lens both in water and on land. I look forward to working on collaborations with other athletes and photographers alike. Yew!
